Is there a such thing as practicing for labor? My Yoga instructor thinks so.
I started my next session of yoga today and it was really tough. Course most things with this belly are tough now. Anywhoo, I am so impressed with the workout I get from yoga, but was SHOCKED when she had us go to the wall and begin wall sits...WALL SITS! Now I have not done a wall sit since mid Junior High and this time I easily weigh twice as much as I did then!
The instructor goes on to explain that this is a great excercise in preparaing for a one minute contraction. Well in that case! I will breeze through this wall sit!
She reminds us to breathe cleansing breathes while we assume the position. I am doing really great. Not working out for the last 8 months isnt an issue at all. Oh my, the girl next to me is totally shaking. Ok, that had to of been a minute. OH..now I am shaking. WHOO...WHOO OH...MY.
"Ok ladies, 3 more cleansing breathes."
3 MORE BREATHES!! I AM NOT GOING TO MAKE IT!!
"And come out of the position and take a second to shake your legs".
I made it! Not so bad. I can totally do this labor thing! THEN, as I am starting to feel more confident about this whole labor thing I hear this.
"Ok Ladies, back to the wall for our second one minute contraction."
So in conclusion...I can't feel my legs, and I only have 6 more weeks to figure out a different way to get this mcnugget out without pain. Any suggestions are welcome.
(PS the funniest part was when she gave us the option to come out of the pose if it was "causing any discomfort." Not one of us budged. Nobody wants to be the one who can't make it through a one minute contraction..ya know!)
